Life Church of Athens is located in Athens, Georgia and came to the team at Abstract Union looking for a revamped logo and brand identity. The sapling symbol I created maintains the grassy, "of the earth" imagery that is important to their identity as a church. Through the use of positive and negative space within the symbol, I created equal focus on the roots (history, community, fellowship), and the sapling/leaves themselves (growth, new life, looking upwards). Rounding out the design in a circle further enhances the idea of the growth/life cycle, as the circle references the sun.
